Settlement delivers deposited value, once independently verified and net of fees, to the destination the receiving account chose. Your backend sets that destination on the account before any value is pointed at it, and nothing a payer does can move it.

Settlement never runs on a claim. A provider reporting success is not the same as value having arrived.

## The payer picks the route, your backend picks the destination

| Decision | Who makes it | Where it lives |
| - | - | - |
| How value arrives | The person sending it | A payment option, a transfer, or a bank deposit |
| Where it lands | Your backend | The account's settlement profile |

Because the two never meet, an account's wallet address or bank details never appear in a request body or on a payer-facing surface.

## Who owns the destination decides what you build

| You are | Destination belongs to | Page |
| - | - | - |
| Collecting on behalf of a counterparty and delivering their share | A customer, seller or merchant account you keep | [Merchant settlement](/settlement/merchant-settlement) |
| Collecting your own revenue | Your business, held in a wallet or under an on-chain policy | [Treasury settlement](/settlement/treasury-settlement) |
| Holding local-currency settlement balances from your own processing | Your business, converting those balances into stablecoin | [Acquirer and PSP settlement](/settlement/acquirer-psp-settlement) |

Merchant and treasury settlement use the same endpoints; merchant settlement also needs a destination picker in your product. Acquirer and PSP settlement has no public create endpoint and is agreed commercially before anything is switched on.

Settlement runs to a connected wallet on the settlement-capable chains, in the stablecoins listed for each. See [Supported regions and currencies](/supported-regions-and-currencies).
